Types of Braces

Metal Braces

Metal braces are made from high-grade stainless steel.  They use the metal bracket and an archwire to guide teeth into place.  Colors can be added to make braces more fun!

Self-Ligating Braces

In our office, we use Damon Ultima self-ligating brackets for our comprehensive treatment cases. The Ultima brackets are smaller and smoother than traditional metal brackets. They use a specialized clip in place of ligature ties to help the archwire guide teeth into place.

Traditional Metal Braces

Traditional metal braces are the most common type of braces used in orthodontics.  Traditional metal braces use ligature ties to hold the wire in place.  We often use traditional metal braces for our interceptive cases.

Aesthetic Options

Clear Braces

In our office, we use Damon Clear self-ligating brackets.  Damon Clear brackets are made of porcelain, and are less visible on your teeth than metal braces. Clear braces are used mainly on patients who have aesthetic concerns, and whose cases are not suitable for clear aligners. While they are visually less prominent, they do require more attention to maintain, as clear brackets are larger and are more brittle than their metal counterparts.  For more information on clear braces, please visit our clear braces page.

Clear Aligners

invisalign

Clear aligners are a series of clear, removable trays that straighten your teeth like braces. They are a great alternative to braces for patients requiring minor orthodontic treatment. Not only are the trays invisible, they are removable, so you can eat and drink what you want while in treatment, plus brushing and flossing are easier.
